Woodlands Youth Crew

Woodlands Youth Crew members engage in a variety of projects to help sustain and restore Prospect Park’s 250 acres of woodlands. Projects can include trail maintenance and the creation of new rustic woodland pathways, planting native species of flora to create a thriving forest, and removing invasive weeds that impact the health of the woodlands and its waterways. Throughout the sessions, Woodlands Youth Crew members are able to see the areas they work on transform into healthier, more resilient ecosystems and, in turn, come to understand the importance of their individual contribution to the health and longevity of Prospect Park.

Woodlands Youth Crew Schedule + Hourly Pay Rate
This outdoor employment program runs from April through October from 9 am–4:30 pm on the following days each season. Woodlands Youth Crew members must be available for all of the following sessions:

• Spring Session: Saturdays, April 5–May 17
• Summer Session: Monday–Friday, July 7–August 22
• Fall Session: Saturdays, September 13–October 25
• Rate: $16.50/hour

Please note that the following items are needed to submit an application:

• A description of past work or volunteer experience with start and end dates
• Contact information for a personal or professional reference
• Current and valid NYC Work Permit (also known as Employment Certification or working papers) + proof of a tetanus immunization shot within the last 7 years
• Applicants must be between 14-18 years old as of March 31, 2025
