The Center for Excellence in Youth Education (CEYE) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is excited to announce an opening for a Year Long Teaching Assistant position! Starting May 2025.

At the Center of Excellence in Youth Education (CEYE), we help NYC students prepare for careers in science and health care. We are looking to hire a teaching assistant for our academic-year programs. Year-long TAs play a critical role in supporting eight different programs that serve 7th-12th grade students. In addition to teaching, TAs support student development, run social media platforms and assist with administrative duties. 

Position Highlights:

- Start Date: ~May 2025

- Commitment: Minimum 1 year

- Stipend Rate: $19.00/hour

- Schedule: Full-time, mostly in-person with some hybrid opportunities

- Location: 1 Gustave L. Levy Pl, New York, NY 10029

Key Responsibilities:

- Curriculum Development & Teaching: Assist in developing and teaching STEM-based curriculum, including a biomedical science course and a virtual summer program exploring six diverse fields of medicine.

- Student Support & Mentorship: Provide one-on-one and group support for students, helping them develop research techniques, write scientific papers, and prepare research presentations.

- Program Coordination & Administration: Handle logistics, coordinate with Medical Education staff, and manage program evaluations and data reporting.

- Marketing & Outreach: Design and manage social media content, create program flyers, and develop a monthly newsletter featuring CEYE updates and student opportunities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in science (Biology, Chemistry, Neuroscience, or related field)

- Desire to work with middle and high school students

- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with youth in both in-person and online settings

Preferred:

- Prior experience working with youth (teaching, tutoring, mentoring)

- Research lab experience

- Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, and social media sites
