The High School Division of the Sonia & Celina Sotomayor Judicial Internship Program (The Sotomayor Program) encourages diverse and underrepresented high school students from communities among the five New York City boroughs to pursue careers in the law.

Selected students will spend the summer interning for a state or federal judge in New York City while participating in supplemental educational programming, college preparation, and mentorship opportunities.

The Sotomayor Program is open to and encourages applications from all eligible candidates.

Eligibility

To Apply, you must:

  • Be a current high school junior (rising senior in the summer of 2025)
  • Reside and attend school in the five boroughs of New York City
  • Provide the Sotomayor Program with a Student General Employment Certificate (available through your school)
  • Agree to attend a one-day orientation in May 2025 (date TBD) and be available throughout July 2025 for your internship and programming

The Application

  • Completed Google form 
  • One Letter of Recommendation (sent separately to [email protected])
  • Student working papers/Student General Employment Certificate (sent separately to [email protected])
  • Application is due Jan 31 2025
